Day 1 – Samarkand to Seven Lakes and Panjakent
Meet your driver in Samarkand and travel to the Uzbekistan–Tajikistan border. After completing border formalities on foot, our Tajik driver will meet you on the Tajikistan side.
Continue toward the Seven Lakes, also known as the Haft Kul lakes, in the Shing Valley. These mountain lakes are famous for their different colors and dramatic surrounding scenery.
We travel by vehicle along the mountain road to Lake 7, with stops at the different lakes for photos, short walks and viewpoints.
At Lake 7, there is time to enjoy the scenery and take a short walk depending on the weather, road conditions and your preferred pace.
After visiting the Seven Lakes, drive to Panjakent for your overnight stay.
Day 2 – Panjakent to Iskanderkul and Samarkand
After breakfast, drive through the Fann Mountains toward Iskanderkul, one of Tajikistan’s most famous alpine lakes.
Enjoy views of the turquoise lake and surrounding mountains. Visit the nearby Fann Niagara waterfall, reached by a short walk, and explore the area around Snake Lake.
After sightseeing at Iskanderkul, drive back toward Panjakent and continue to the Tajikistan–Uzbekistan border. After crossing the border, transfer back to Samarkand.

The border crossing is completed on foot. Walking between the Uzbekistan and Tajikistan checkpoints is approximately 600 meters and normally takes around 30–40 minutes including border procedures.
This tour operates throughout the year, but mountain weather can affect road conditions, particularly during winter. The exact route around the Seven Lakes and Iskanderkul may be adjusted for safety because of snow, rain or road conditions.

Pickup and drop-off in Samarkand can be arranged according to your hotel location. At the Uzbekistan–Tajikistan border, travelers cross the checkpoint on foot and meet the Tajik driver on the other side.
The mountain road to the Seven Lakes reaches Lake 7. Road and weather conditions can vary throughout the year, especially in winter and early spring, so the itinerary may occasionally be adjusted.
Comfortable shoes, a light jacket, drinking water and sun protection are recommended. In colder months, bring warm clothing because temperatures in the mountains can be significantly lower than in Samarkand or Panjakent.

Day 1: Samarkand → Panjakent → Seven Lakes
Morning pick-up from your hotel in Samarkand.
Transfer to the border (Jartepa), cross on foot.
Meet your Tajik driver/guide and drive to Panjakent.
Visit Sarazm UNESCO site and Panjakent bazaar (time permitting).
